Meagan from Maine Seasons Events shares with brides some creative and practical ways to enhance a guest’s experience at a wedding. Check out some of Meagan’s great ideas! ~LS
At Maine Seasons Events, we consider many details when choosing elements that will enhance our wedding guests’ experience. Creating many outdoor weddings, and being in Maine, the weather changes often and sometimes dramatically-having rain ponchos and umbrellas stashed nearby, even on the sunniest of summer days has proven to be a smart idea.
While guests arrive and mingle prior to the wedding ceremony, beverage stations help quench their thirst on warm summer afternoons. Bamboo fans attached to each wedding program and handed out at the entrance to the ceremony, allow guests to create their own cooling breeze, if Mother Nature isn’t providing one. And though it is not a new idea, flip flops in baskets by the dance floor have saved many a box of Band Aids from being deployed!
Containers of insect repellent, in multiple forms, DEET and DEET free, are usually found almost empty at the end of a summer wedding on the Maine coast. Custom embroidered hats for a sunny dock side rehearsal luncheon are a fun way to provide guests relief from the sun’s glare on the ocean. Heaters in tents for cool autumn weddings, fun kid activates and foods for guests with little ones, and a quiet, comfortable and clean place for new mommies to nurse, feed and change their infants have been important guest specialties at our weddings. After dinner snacks for dancers and late night party goers, a bouncy castle for kids or college friends to jump on (it’s happened), photo booths and memory tables, featuring photos of the couple as children, their parents and grandparents on their wedding days and even slideshows of the couple growing up, provide guests with sustenance and entertainment. When thinking of your guests’ experience, consider the season, the weather, the temperature, the hour of the conclusion of the wedding and any special logistic or environmental factors that provide an opportunity to do a little something special. In many cases guests have gone to great lengths, travel and expense to be with a couple on their wedding day, and it is a kind gesture and good hosting to consider their overall experience.

Living in New Hampshire, we know how viscous those pesky mosquitoes and gnats can be and with something so simple as a couple containers filled with bug spray, guests will be more at ease throughout the night.

My Kate Parker Weddings member Jubilee Events is a Connecticut based wedding planning boutique. They specialize in chic weddings and occasions.
Image courtesy of RAW Photo Design
Number of years in business: 2 years
Preferred wedding locations: New England, specifically Connecticut. I absolutely ADORE a chic Connecticut wedding!
Pricing information: Our pricing varies based on our clients’ needs, but we start just under $2,000.
What makes me stand out in my industry: I came into the industry with a fresh perspective – I’m young, fun, enthusiastic and have a different eye for weddings and the industry as a whole. I truly believe my art background plays a HUGE role in the design of a Jubilee Event!
What’s the favorite part of what I do: I absolutely love the design process – it’s my favorite part. From the big picture to the small details, I just love it all! I equally love being a part of my clients’ personal history. It is such an incredible thing to be so intimately involved in someone’s wedding day.
What do I like to do in my spare time: Spare time? Ha! No really, most of my time is devoted to doing what I love, and that’s my business. When I’m not working I love to hang with my husband, family, and friends. I love a good glass of wine, a book, and some fun reality TV.
What charity am I supporting and why: I’m supporting the American Cancer Society because SO many of my loved ones have beaten or succumb to cancer. It’s such an important charity, in my eyes, and we all have a personal tie to the disease.
Check some images of Candice’s favorite events from the 2009 season below:
We love the way Candice took traditional wedding elements and added a chic, modern twist so that they would work well in this urban space:
These varying shades of pinks and purples give this table a vibrant pop of color:
How fun is this photo?! We love the emotion so clearly captured:
One of the new wedding traditions is to have your bridesmaids choose a dress style that flatters their body shape. They’ll be happier and more at ease if the dress fits them well and it will show in your wedding photos. We love that this bride chose various shades of blue – proof that you don’t have to be completely matching in your wedding color palette if the colors complement one another.
We love the romantic and vintage wedding vibe in this photo:

Whether you are looking for a full service planner, wedding day coordination or invitations and custom designs, these are among the many services that So Chic Events offers bride to create that dream wedding. Check out Shelby from So Chic Events in today’s Vendor Spotlight!
So Chic Events
Planner: Shelby O’Connell
Location: Mendon, Massachusetts
Phone: 508.478.2309
Website: www.sochicevents.com
Blog: www.sochicevents.blogspot.com
Number of Years in Business: It was 3 years in June.
Preferred Wedding Locations: I can’t really say that I have preferred locations as I really love working at different places — it just makes it more fun to me. But, that being said, I love locations that are different, either an offbeat venue or one with great architecture. They just add so much character to the day. I also like locations that are especially meaningful to the couple, it makes the day as a whole much more special, especially when they share with their guests the reason for choosing it.
Pricing Information: I have packages that range anywhere from $120 for 2 hours of consulting to $4,000+ for full service planning. Because every client is different and may not need all the services I offer under a specific package, I am happy to customize a package tailored to their individual needs and budget.
What makes me stand out in my industry? Well I can only speak for myself but when a client hires me I give them the attention they deserve. I make it a point to be available pretty much whenever they need me. Having 2 little boys I find myself often working late after they’re in bed and it’s not rare for me to respond to an email at 1:00 AM. So when they think of something late at night and email me, it’s often that they hear back from me before morning! They know they can reach me at my office or email and if they need me right away they have my cell phone. I don’t mind helping them with little things like assembling favors or invitations, my job is to make their engagement enjoyable and the planning process easier. In addition to that I love the creative aspect surrounding my job. I have a keen eye for detail and honestly believe even the smallest detail matters. Often times it’s the littlest ones that pull it all together. My ultimate goal is to help them personalize their day and make it unique.
What do I like to do in my spare time? Although spare time is rather rare, when I have it I love to spend time with family and friends, riding my Harley, skiing, reading a great book, being silly with my boys or doing anything crafty.
What charity am I supporting and why? I chose to support the American Cancer Society because unfortunately it has touched my life from several angles. I’ve known several people of all ages who have battled cancer, some who’ve lost the battle. It’s a frightening thing because it doesn’t discriminate, it can attack anyone, young or old. On a very personal level, my father is currently battling it for the 3rd time. Being a “daddy’s girl” he has always been my rock and to see him remain strong through something like this just makes me admire him more. He’s the strongest man I know and he’s never stopped fighting. He’s always put his family first, he’s truly an amazing man and would do almost anything for anyone. I couldn’t ask for a better dad. I hope someday they’ll find a cure not just for him but for anyone that has had to go through it.

Lindsey from Fresh LiME Events definitely has impeccable style and taste as her work is absolutely stunning. Check out Lindsey in today’s Vendor Spotlight!
Fresh LiME Events
Planner: Lindsey Maurath
Location: Botsford, Connecticut
Phone: 203.727.8528
Website: www.freshlimeevents.com
Blog: www.freshlimeevents.com/blog
Number of Years in the Business: 2 years
Preferred Wedding Locations: Have passport. Will travel.
Pricing Information: By and large, we create custom packages for all clients, but we start at $3,000.
What makes me stand out in the industry? Basically, we’re FUN! What more can I say? A serious answer, now? Working in an agency pre-wedding planning, I have always been client-focused and figuring out ways to go above and beyond client expectations. Our business is built on reputation, and I won’t compromise that. Clients always come first. I’ve also been really fortunate to have had the chance to travel a bit and lived in a couple different countries (and continents!) a few years back. I think it makes me more creative, and living abroad taught me about flexibility and managing difficult situations. It’s important that my team has this as well, so travel experience is key to Fresh LiME Events.
What do I do in my spare time? Ha! What spare time? At the moment, it’s working on the house we just bought. It’s SO time consuming, but it’ll be fantastic when it’s done. When I do have “Lindsey-time”, I get giddy when I find a great pair of shoes or a new bag. I also really enjoying cooking with my husband, hanging with our drooly dog, Kana, and being active. And yes, I still love a good Cosmo. An oldie, but a goodie.
(Great shoes…click here to check out one of Lindsey’s latest entries on her blog!)
What charity am I supporting & why? The ASPCA. There’s nothing my dog can do that will make me angry. Her face is just so freaking cute. If I do say so, she’s been really fortunate to have us as parents. J In the first two years of her life, she had at least 4 major surgeries on her legs. Some people can’t afford to keep dogs with continual vet bills, and those dogs can end up in shelters. I can’t imagine that happening to Kana, so I want to try to at least help those dogs that don’t have a say in what happens to them. Man, dogs just melt my heart.
Check out some of Lindsey’s fabulous work below…
