Wedding Tip of the Day by Sperry Tents

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Today’s wedding tip comes from New England and NYC/Westchester County wedding tents, Sperry Tents Seacoast!  They shared a great expert advice article with us on my Kate Parker Wedding about the three important things to think about when choosing to have a tented event.  Number three on the list was quality!  Check out this great tip from Sperry Tents and read more expert advice on my Kate Parker Wedding.

Sperry Tents

Your outdoor event should be unique and special.  A tented event, dressed with elegant lighting and décor can create a refined outdoor ambiance.  Beyond a high-quality tent, it is important to have premium lighting and flooring options.  Flooring can convert an outdoor venue into an elegant ballroom dining setting.  Creating a magical glow for an evening event, lighting can dress the tent’s interior with elegant ambiance and décor.

myKPW Real Weddings from Real Vendors: Bancroft and Inga Potter

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

This week’s myKPW Real Wedding features Bancroft Potter of Sperry Tents!  New England and NYC/Westchester County wedding tent company, Sperry Tents, is a featured vendor on my Kate Parker Wedding.  This week, Inga and Bancroft share their Nantucket wedding with the my Kate Parker Wedding family and give us a chance to get to know them in a more personal way.  Check out their photographs and their short interview below! ~AY

myKPW Real Wedding: Inga and Bancroft Potter

What were your top 3 priorities when planning your wedding?

  • Location.  I really wanted to get married at my family’s home on Nantucket Island under a Sperry Tent. Nantucket is a very special and significant place for both of us (where we met and got engaged).
  • Budget
  • Making our wedding accessible and affordable for friends and family who had to travel to get there

Looking back was there anything you would have changed about your wedding? Nothing major, I loved it.

Was there anything you wouldn’t change about your wedding? We ended up having our rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, two nights before the wedding because that was when the venue we wanted was available. At first I was disappointed, but it turned out great because we had all our family and friends arrive on the island earlier so we were able to spend more time together. We had a great, totally carefree night at the rehearsal on Thursday without the anxiety of the wedding the next day. Friday night, with the help of lots of family friends, my parents hosted a low key get-together for our out of town guests. We were able to visit with friends and family on Friday night and not feel pressured to spend time with every single guest on the day of the wedding. It ended up just spreading out the wedding weekend and giving us more time to enjoy it. It was great!

A KPW Wedding in Southern New Hampshire

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Emily and Jake’s wedding took place at a private home in Auburn, NH on August 29th, 2009.  Through the use of classic sunflowers combined with antique blue hydrangea and copper buckets we were able to create a beautiful wedding with a slight rustic feel and although we were forced to deal with a bit of rain, we were able to fully utilize not only an amazing barn space but two separate tented areas as well.

Take a look at some of the images below. . . KM

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeEmily and Jake are such a beautiful and fun couple . . . I love this image.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeHaving the ceremony inside rather then outside turned out to be wonderful. The barn was able to create a cozy, intimate space for everyone.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeWe used brown galvanized buckets filled with sunflowers to line the ceremony aisle.  For guest seating we decided to use wooden picnic style benches which helped utilize the smaller space and keep a casual feel.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeThis bridal bouquet was made of sunflowers, light blue delphinium, dark blue delphinium and dark blue Larkspur.  The combination created a very fun, summer feel.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeWe decided to Re-use the ceremony location and transition it into an evening lounge space for the wedding guests.  Combining the brown leather furniture and colorful star lanterns created a fun and relaxing space.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeTwo of these arrangements were used at the entrance to the ceremony aisle, we then re-used them a the entrance to the dining tent (we always try to re-use flowers if possible).  The arrangements were made of light blue variegated hydrangea, medium and large sunflowers, purple veronica, light and dark purple larkspur, and studded with variegated Pittosporum greens.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeThis wedding utilized multiple outdoor spaces including a barn and two separate tented areas, by using varying paper lantern colors and shapes in each space we were able to keep a casual fun feeling.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeThese birch bark votive candles are a great way to add a little rustic element to your wedding without going overboard.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeThe centerpieces were made of variegated blue Hydrangea, miniature green Hydrangea, miniature yellow Calla Lilies, dark blue Delphinium, light blue Delphinium, dark purple Larkspur, and light purple Larkspur.  The table linens, chairs,  glassware, china and flatware, all from Be Or Guest Party Rental, worked beautifully together and the lemon slice in the water glass added the finishing touch.

My Kate Parker Wedding - Emily and JakeWe used white paper lanterns in the ceiling of the main tent as well as some uplighting to create a more intimate and festive feel . . . check out the final result below.
