Falling in Love with Autumn Weddings | Datura – A Modern Garden

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Are you ready for fall?  I know, sometimes it’s hard to let go of the summer sun, but what’s more cozy than the crisp autumn air and the cozy, intimate feeling it brings?  To get you in the mood, just check out the incredible design work by Connecticut floral designer, Datura – A Modern Garden.

Tony from Datura: Jenny and Tom were married at Jenny’s parent’s house in Connecticut – a stunning home that sits nestled in the trees atop a hill. For the ceremony, they chose a spot right in front of the pasture, hoping that the horses would come and be a part of the festivities. We decorated our custom iron arch with tons of southern smilax vine, then accented with purple kale and amaranthus for a natural, earthy look. The aisle was lined, from the house to the rows of benches, with our iron lantern stands. One crook of each stand held a floating candle, the other a simple design of kale, rosehips and amaranthus accented with cranberries.

For a classic wedding style, gray tones and pinks are a perfect color combination to bring a sense of elegance to any part of your event.  MMD Events recently went fun crazy with this color combination for a inspirational design that makes me want to get married again (sorry honey!).  So be sure to get inspired below and visit MMD’s blog for more photos from their photo shoot.

My absolute favorite color combo for just about any occasion and what’s better than a couple of lovebirds for a wedding?  Now, you must check out the guest seating arrangement written on hand-made chalkboards — captured by Jennifer Stone Photography!  This idea is such an inexpensive way to make a statement, and nothing’s permanent so you can make last minute changes. Be sure to check this one out!

What’s more rustic than holding a bouquet of sunflowers?  Creating a rustic inspiration board adorned with sunflowers was certainly fun especially while we’re in the summer months.  Check out some of our favorite inspirations from our fabulous myKPW vendors!

Purple and Green Inspiration | Mew Paper Arts

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

These modern invitations designed by New York City paper products company, Mew Paper Arts, truly stood out with it’s modern appeal and is the attention for this fun little inspiration board splashed in chartreuse and purple.  Now I must admit, purple was never a color that I favored, but it’s certainly becoming a favorite especially when paired with crazy greens!  ~LS

The Dessert Buffet

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

The candy and dessert buffet is certainly not a new idea to the world of weddings, however, the look and design concept continues to evolve adding more of a personal touch and customization.  The displays below are among my favorites, especially the design created by Washington DC wedding planner, Capries Wedding & Social Events (as seen below).  I love the fresh and clean look of the shelving to individually display each of the desserts.  Hopefully these delightful displays will spark a little creativity for your wedding or event! ~LS
