Today’s wedding tip comes from my Kate Parker Wedding vendor, Parrott Design Studio! Rhode Island wedding paper products, Parrott Design Studio, shared a great expert advice article on my Kate Parker Wedding about the importance of wedding programs. Check out this great tip from the article and visit the full expert advice from Parrott Design Studio at my Kate Parker Wedding.

Wedding programs allow your guests to follow the ceremony, understand what is happening & why, & it is a keepsake of the day. Programs come in all shapes & sizes & there is no set format on what your program should look like. It should work for you & your ceremony & reflect you as a couple. The key “ingredients” for a program include: your full names, wedding date, city, state, & location of the ceremony, the order of the wedding ceremony including musical selections & the composers & performers, the readings, the source or author, & the readers, wedding party names & their relation to you, your officiant’s name, a thank you note to your parents & guests, & a brief explanation of traditions, rituals, & ethic customs for both religious & secular ceremonies. You may also wish to honor those who have passed or could not join you by including a memorial.

Today’s wedding tip is from Carey Bunker of Lasso’d Moon Designs! Carey wrote a great expert advice article on my Kate Parker Wedding and she shares some info about the pricing of wedding stationery. Check out her little tip and visit the full expert advice article on my Kate Parker Wedding.

One of the most common questions or concerns I tend to hear about in the wedding industry is why does this cost so much? And while that seems to be asked of every wedding service, I’d like to address the cost of custom stationery and invitations. When you order a custom invitation, your stationer isn’t taking a stock design, dropping in your wording and shipping them off to a printer. Typically, there is an in person meeting if you are close in geography, a flurry of e-mails, rounds of proofs and perhaps a number of phone conversations or in person meetings. This doesn’t even take into account the time your designer might spend on creating or altering graphics to suit your particular wants. So before you even get to printing, your designer could be any where from 3-10 hours into your project.

Today’s wedding tip of the day comes from Rhode Island paper products, Parrott Design Studio. Sarah wrote a great expert advice article on my Kate Parker Wedding giving some tips on writing thank you notes to your guests. Below is some of the expert advice, to check out the full expert advice, visit my Kate Parker Wedding!
Thank You Notes and Stationary
For the newly, & nearly, wed, it is always important to have stationery on hand for the ever-important thank you notes. A hand-written thank you note is not only appreciated when it comes to engagement, shower, & wedding gifts, it is necessary. Stay organized by keeping a list of guests at each event where you may receive gifts {an engagement party, shower, the wedding…} & have someone record what you received as you open the gifts {as my sister’s maid-of-honor, I did this at her shower}. Once you send the thank you note, check them off. I think it is also nice to write a note to guests you did not receive gifts from, but attended & helped celebrate.

Today is Rustic Monday on my Kate Parker Wedding. Since it is our first ever Rustic Monday, we thought it would be a good idea to give examples of what “rustic” actually is. Many weddings have rustic aspects mixed in with a vintage styled wedding. We decided to show some rustic elements of weddings, like a wedding gown, table scape, and wedding decor in order to sort of define what rustic is. We hope you enjoy our first of many Rustic Mondays!
Rustic Wedding Gown and Rustic Bouquet:

Above and Below Vendors Involved: NYC/Westchester County wedding photographer, Dove Photography
Why is this rustic? Sunflowers are wildflowers, which gives them a very organic and natural look. The gown in the photographs has an empire waist with lace embroidery giving it a rustic look.

Rustic Wedding Ceremony:

Vendors Involved: New Hampshire wedding photographer, Melissa Koren Photography
Why is this rustic? I think “barn” simply does it. Barns are exactly what what comes to my mind when I hear “rustic wedding”.
The aged wood and the outdoor location are a natural look for a wedding ceremony.
Rustic Wedding Reception Venue:

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding photographer, Carla Ten Eyck Photography
Why is this rustic? The wooden floors and walls make for a very rustic style. Using paper lanterns above instead of chandeliers gives a dim and more natural lighting to the space.
Rustic Wedding Cuisine:

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding caterer, La Cuisine
Why is this rustic? This caterer chose to cook in large metal woks on open heat which gives the cuisine an organic twist.

Vendors Involved: Massachusetts wedding photographer, Relive Photography
Why is this rustic? The wooden serving board is a creative way to add a natural feel to your hors d’oeuvres.
Rustic Wedding Paper Products:

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding photographer, Carla Ten Eyck Photography
Why is this rustic? Creating home-made place cards are a great way to get a rustic look. The color scheme, wildflower patterns, and handwriting all comes together to make for rustic place cards.

Vendors Involved: Chicago, Connecticut, NYC, Rhode Island, Savannah, Vermont, and Washington D.C. wedding paper products, Tulaloo Stationery Studio
Why is this rustic? The twigs and twine really give these programs a natural, rustic look.
Rustic Wedding Table Scape:

Vendors Involved: Bernadette Smith of 14 Stories
Why is this rustic? The tree stump centerpieces with floral tops gives an outdoor feel to this reception. The hanging lights and wooden beams are very rustic as well.

Vendors Involved: Maine wedding planner, Maine Seasons Events; Maine wedding photographer, Brea McDonald Photography; Maine wedding paper products, Griffin-vites Stationery
Why is this rustic? The knit menu holder gives the table setting a home-made feel. The color scheme is also a great way to get an outdoor feel for an indoor reception.
The candle lit table and green colors all help to tie this rustic table scape together.
Rustic Wedding Decor/Accessories:

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding planner, Sixpence for your Shoe and Troy Photography
Why is this rustic? The hay, used as a hanging spot for the place cards, gives this wedding a very rustic look.

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding photographer, Carla Ten Eyck Photography
Why is this rustic? The worn down wooden sign is a great way to direct guests to the wedding site and give guests a sneak peak at the rustic styled wedding.

Vendors Involved: Connecticut wedding photographer, Carla Ten Eyck Photography
Why is this rustic? The background for this decor is very barn-like. The photographs are hung by a natural green colored ribbon and the brown frames tied together are very rustic elements.
Rustic Wedding Cake:

Vendors Involved: Maine and New Hampshire wedding cakes, Wild Orchid Baking Company
Why is this rustic? The birch bark styled fondant gives this cake a woodsy feel. The leaves strewn about also help make this cake look rustic.

Wednesdays are now vintage Wednesdays on my Kate Parker Wedding! For our first vintage Wednesday, we thought it would be a good idea to show examples of vintage items that are featured throughout weddings.
